Best Intel Processor – Intel Core i7 950 and Core i7980X Extreme Edition

Sandy Bridge processors suffer from their motherboard chipset issues which are the P67 and H67. Intel decided a full recall for all these chipsets to regain their avid consumers trust. Intel is still the best processor out there and the best option for this is the socket 1366 processor.

Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition – Best 1366 Processor

The Core i7 980X Extreme Edition is a six core processor in socket 1366 code name Gulftown. This is the fastest socket 1366 processor with a Turbo Boost and Hyper Threading Technology. With the base clock of 3.33GHz that can be boosted up to 3.6GHz. It can be overclocked just above the 4GHz mark way behind compare to sandy Bridge 2600K.

The test result of these six core processor is quite impressive than can outperform the AMD six core processor in many various benchmark test. But the drawback for this old 1366 processor is the price (I should say insanely high). Overall, it’s still the fastest 1366 processor out there but it doesn’t deliver much value for your money.

Intel Core i7 950 – Best Value 1366 Processor

If you can’t afford the high price of core i7 980X (nobody does) the core i7 950 is the best price 1366 processor you can get. The Core i7 950 is a quad core processor that can definitely provides you a great performance. This processor has a base clock of 3.06GHz. For the price of less than $300 you can get more out of it and lots of overclocking possibilities. If you pair it with a descent boardand do some overclocking you can beat the 980X baseclock.

It lacks the Hyper Threading feature but has the Turbo Boost. With almost the same performance as the core i7 960 but almost half the price, the Core i7 950 is the best value 1366 processor for you money.
